There are so many fun apple play activities, and we've had a great time learning through play together this week! To see more of what we did, check out our apple themed activities here!
One thing we've really enjoyed this week has been our busy bin! I debated just not doing a busy bin at all this week and focusing on more real-life sensory activities (like apple picking and making apple crisp together), but then I saw this fun Apple Pie sensory bin and thought I'd give it a try!
The base of this busy bin is called Cloud Dough. We added a little twist to it, but cloud dough is great because it's taste safe, cheap to make, and you probably have the ingredients at home.
Apple Pie Cloud Dough
Five cups Flour
One cup Vegetable Oil
2 tablespoons Apple Pie Spice
Mix the oil slowly into the flour. It will clump up - just use a spoon to break up the clumps a bit to get the flour mixed in well. Then add the spices, mix well.
The lid to my clear busy bin is broken (bummer), so I used a different bin this time - one with a lid!
In this busy bin, I added a wooden spoon, a small baking dish, a spatula, measuring spoons, and our measuring cups made another appearance.
We had a lot of fun making "apple pie" in our bin, and (bonus!) my house smells amazing.
Of course, my son being who he is, he quickly added his construction vehicles to the bin. He really enjoys scooping the cloud dough with his vehicles, too (although the vehicles will have to stay in the bin until they get a bath!)
In any case, the fun sensory experience is one that keeps my kiddo engaged and playing independently - and it's so fun to see what he comes up with!
