Ah, Advent.
Can you believe that we're only one short week away? I can't. It came up quickly this year.
One of my favorite things about Advent, though, is the books. Yes, I might overdo it with Advent devotionals, so I've limited myself to just one a year. And this year it seems especially tough.

However, thanks to a wonderfully happy accident, I was part of an advanced release group for a great new devotional- Come Lord Jesus: The Weight of Waiting, by Kris Camealy (you can read my guest post on her blog here-- Preparing the Way).
So this year, I'll be doing that devotional over the season of light... but that doesn't stop me from getting my Advent-lust on. (And yes, I did just use the words "Advent" and "lust" in the same sentence.)
Other books that I'm drooling over this year include:
1) The Women of Christmas: Experience the Season Afresh with Elizabeth, Mary, and Anna
2) The Greatest Gift: Unwrapping the Full Love Story of Christmas
3) In the Manger: 25 Inspirational Selections for Advent
4) Waiting Here for You
5) Because of Bethlehem: Love is Born, Hope is Here
How about you? What devotional are you looking forward to this Advent?

I first read "God In Us" for Lenten season last year. It's a compilation of essays from several authors. I enjoyed it so much, I'm doing "God With Us" for Advent this year. Looking forward to it. I've used some of these in the past though. I have a small collection :)
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a great activity to do as a family at the dinner table. Read a section through out the month.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean-- so many to choose from! I love anything by Walt Wangerine but this year I ordered He Is Here by Michele Rabon and will begin next week!
