That's where the miracle is.
But then, when you take a break from the routine and mundane- and you get to live a little exotic and unplanned- you're already practiced in finding the blessings, so you find even more of them. Vacations are even more refreshing, even more rich, when you've already learned to count the blessings.

Safe travels and beautiful views

Spending time with the people we love (and lots of rock climbing)
The most special part of our vacation is that we get to spend it with so many family members on Trevor's side - our five nieces and nephews, sisters and brothers, and parents.
... ... ... ... ...
We also had my sister and her boy join us for some motorcycling and hiking-- it was fun to have them with us for a few days
... ... ... ... ...
(in part because it meant we got to have pictures taken of the two of us-- thank you Kiwi for being such a good photographer.)
... ... ... ... ...
"Excuse me, do you know, where are zee boo-fal-oo?"
We got to see lots of wildlife on this trip- including this buffalo who strolled right through town.
This friendly (and very hungry) donkey
We even saw a big horn sheep- a new thing for us, even after having driven past the "big horned sheep crossing" signs for the past seven years

Sharing our favorite places with the people I love

Cool mornings and a nice warm camper
... ... ... ... ...
... ... ... ... ...
Our nephew on Uncle Trevor's dirt bike, wearing all Trevor's gear... we start them young around here! It won't be long until he gets to go along with Trevor and his dad to do some dirt biking of his own.
... ... ... ... ...
A horse ride, and some lovely scenery (and only a little bit of rain)
... ... ... ... ...
Me on a horse. Not my horse, though. I "borrowed" Sport for the ride and the picture.
... ... ... ... ...
A hike with these two tough cuties and their mama, and oh, the views!
... ... ... ... ...
We also got to go to a rodeo (and the horse-riding nieces and nephews were a little confused about the bucking broncos... "are they supposed to be doing that?")
... ... ... ... ...
... ... ... ... ...
As lovely as the Hills are, it was also such a blessing to be back home. There's really nothing like an Iowa sunset.
