This week went by so quickly.
Sometimes, a week going by quickly is a sign of a week that was full of joy- like how a week of vacation seems to just fly. But sometimes, a week that goes by quickly means that it was full of stress and demands on time, and that feeling like you're doing everything and accomplishing nothing.
You know what I mean?
This week was the latter, unfortunately. And I'm finding that it's weeks like these that it's hard to find those blessings, to count the gifts.
So today, I'm counting my blessings as a way to remember all the beauty in my life this week, and to thank God for all the gifts He's given me.

This electronic temperature gauge that I really thought we didn't need. Trevor convinced me to buy it, though, and I'm so glad we did. (So, also, a husband who knows what is a useful thing to spend money on.)
And yes, that does say -17-- that was on Sunday. I put on two pairs of socks, two coats, two pairs of pants and a face mask before taking Bear out to do his business.

We brought home what will be our bathroom vanity, this week. We bought it for $10- it was actually the kitchen cabinets out of a cabin that was recently remodeled here at Camp- one that we lived in for the first year we were married. So we'll have a little piece of our first home in our new home, and I'm blessed that I have a husband who sees the potential in everything.

That silly dog of ours that makes me smile with his antics- like how he paws the air with one front foot to tell me "I can't quite reach my water bowl because I've wound my chain around this tree... see? Can't reach it. Not even with my paw," and how he bounces up and down when he knows I'm getting his breakfast ready. ("So hungry! So hungry! Yay food!")

My mom celebrated her twenty-sixth birthday this week (no, seriously, she's only twenty-six!).
(Did you like that, Mom? You're welcome. And Happy Birthday- don't say I never gave you nuthin.')
We got to head "home" to celebrate with her and the rest of the family. And we got to take some brownies home.

We are continually blessed by our church family. Last week, we chatted for a few minutes with a couple who have chickens on their acreage, and this week, found a catalog for purchasing baby chicks in our church mailbox.
(And just in case you're wondering, I haven't decided what kind we want, yet... too many options! And they're all so cuuuute!)
... ... ... ... ...
The snow falling on the windshield while we got gas was sparkling like little bits of glitter. And I totally didn't do it justice by taking a picture, but you get the idea.
... ... ... ... ...
Speaking of snow, we didn't get a picture this morning, but we got about two inches last night- fluffy, beautiful snow. And while I'm glad I'm not the one who has to clear it, the beauty of the landscape this morning was enough to make me stop and just look for a while. Until Bear reminded me that he hadn't gotten breakfast, yet.

Our morning commute. I know that it's only been a couple of months that we've had a commute, but the peaceful quiet start to the morning, looking over all those empty, open fields, is something I treasure every morning.

THIS WEEK
In which I tell you about all the books I want to read, so that I don't forget what they are.
Planner Power: or, Why I Lug Around My Binder Everywhere I Go.
True story, I'll never have a small purse. But I do always have a pen and my calendar and a copy of our health insurance cards. Just in case.
I mentioned it on Facebook the other day, but there are some really big things I've got planned for this little space over the next few months. I'd really treasure your prayers for me and for this blog- that God would give me the right words and keep me from typing the wrong ones.
Thanks in advance.
Have a wonderful weekend- and don't forget to count your blessings!

A side-ways week...frustrating, but they do build our patience! Has someone been praying for patience for you? Beautiful snow, I wish we had some (like 2 feet!), we need it so much. Your commute sounds perfect and peaceful. I frequently wish I could script my words like I can my blog - write the blog in advance a few days and go back to read it before I post it so I'm sure it says what I want it to say. Hard to snatch those words back when you're chatting with someone!! I'll pray for you!
ReplyDeleteYes, it was a bit sideways... but thankfully, it ended in a wonderful weekend.
DeleteAnd, funnily- the message at church on Sunday was about impatience... so I think God's trying to get through to me that I need some more of it!
That is a very cold temperature!! I am so thankful we are having a mild winter.
ReplyDeleteHave fun choosing your chickens! My hubby always laughs at me and says it sounds like I'm ordering donuts. "I'll have 4 of these and 2 of those..." haha!
