I'll be honest- this week was a bit of a struggle for me. I'm not a creature who likes change... and this week has just been full of it. From good changes (like moving in to our home!!), to bad changes, to inconvenient changes, this week has been a full one.
But even in all this change, I can see God's hand at work. Not usually the way I'd do things, no. But He's busy- He's pouring on the blessings. I just have to be willing to see them.

The view from my bedroom window. I don't think I'll ever get tired of this.
We moved in to our home (finally!) this week- and oh, it's so nice to be home.
... ... ... ... ...
A quick trip to our hometown this week meant that we got to visit these pixies (our little nieces)
... and the friendship between these two siblings, all grown up, is such a source of joy to me, too. What a blessing to have 'big sisters' of my very own. Marriage is great that way- it makes your family even bigger.
And also- cuddly babies in little snowsuits are the best thing ever.

We came home with a burn barrel, a dirt-smoothing-outer-thing, and 25 pounds of apples. Any recipe suggestions?

THIS WEEK
This week here on The Speckled Goat:
Don't skip over my favorite holiday! Don't get me wrong- I love Christmas. But when we forget to fully celebrate Thanksgiving, we miss out on the opportunity to respond to God's goodness to us. I share a couple suggestions about how to celebrate a meaningful Thanksgiving in this post- how do you celebrate?
As part of our Featured Farmers ongoing series, I interviewed Christine of A Fly on Our Chicken Coop Wall this week. I love her honesty, her great storytelling, and her sense of humor. Be sure to check out the interview- she's got some great nuggets of wisdom to share.
Don't forget to Be the Blessing through Encouragement this week-- and then come back and share what you did and how you felt and tell us the whole story in the comments here-- you could win a prize! So far, we only have a few entrants, so you've got a great chance to win-- and this is your last week to do it!
NEXT WEEK
Just a sneak peek into next week here on the blog...
The hardwood floors are finished up completely- which is why we were able to move in this week- but I'm behind in writing up what we did and how we did it as far as the floors are concerned.
I'm going to be catching up a bit with some awe-inspiring photos of us on our hands and knees wielding power tools. You're welcome.
I'll also be talking a bit about our time living out of duffel bags and what I've learned from our forced simplicity.
Stay tuned!
As always, have a great weekend, and remember to find those blessings- they're all around us, we just have to open our eyes and see them.

How exciting to be moved into the new house! Let the farming fun begin!
ReplyDelete25 pounds of apples...Yum! We made applesauce (Just cooked them and used an immersion blender to turn them into sauce.), apple pie, apple crumble, cinnamon apples on pancakes. So many choices!
Do you know of a good apple pie recipe that can be frozen? I'm just terrified that I'll waste all these beautiful apples because we won't eat 'em in time!
DeleteI have not done it myself, but a friend of mine freezes apple pies every year. I don't think the recipe matters. She makes a double crust pie then freezes it UNbaked. Wrap it well. When they are ready to eat it, she puts it in the oven when still frozen to bake it.
DeleteIt's exciting and exhausting to move! ((Hugs)) to you!
ReplyDeleteIt's been a long time coming! I was really ready for the whole transition to be done!
Deleteand so many things to be thankful to God for! :D
ReplyDeleteAmen!
DeleteSo many great blessings! Thank you for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by, Nina!
DeleteHow exciting! I'll be moving in January and I'm so stoked! There is something so perfect about moving into a new place- so much potential, a blank slate full of possibilities! And so many APPLES!! We are a apple loving family here! I'm constantly baking turnovers, and making homemade applesauce! I also love dehydrating them and adding in some cinnamon sticks and hanging them from bags in our closets! Smells soooo yum!
ReplyDeleteThis is an awesome list of blessings! I'm so glad you shared it at The Weekender Link Up! :D I hope to see you back again! (I also LOVE the name of your blog, SO cute!)
